Yes! Most people get their “sea legs” in our kayaks quickly if they are beginners and enjoy all of the scenery available, plus the ability to get up close and personal with things that you just can't experience in any other way. While older children may want their own kayak, we also offer tandem kayaks where a parent and a child can be in the same boat. This makes it easy for families to have their kayaking adventures together. We provide all members of your group with flotation vests, provide basic paddling instructions, and can also help explain both single and double kayak weight requirements. Whether you sign up for one of our group kayak tours or you elect to create your own, both beginners and families have a great time with our kayak rental.
No prior kayaking experience is needed to rent a kayak from Key West Boat & Jet Ski Adventures. Our team will help to quickly explain how to move about in your kayak, and people pick up the skill quickly. If you have never been on a kayak, we recommend taking one of our guided tours first, as this will provide you with not only a great tour but an experienced professional who can help you learn the finer points of kayaking. Experienced kayakers often elect to do their tour, where they can go where they want and explore more.
Yes! With a kayak rental, whether that is a single or a double kayak, we will provide you with the oars, kayak, as well as life vests for all kayakers. You are not required to wear the life vest, but you need to take it with you on your rental journey. Anything that you don't want to get wet or lost should be left in your vehicle. For our night kayak tours, we will supply the lights to help illuminate the water to see where you are going, as well as to see the marine life.
When planning to kayak around Key West and Stock Island, there are at least some things to consider bringing with you. Sunscreen is always a good idea, as you will mostly be out in the sunshine. Most people also bring sunglasses as well as a hat. Clothing should be light and provide the coverage that you desire; many long-sleeve shirts are designed to be moisture-wicking and help prevent sunburn. Sandals or water shoes are also used by many. You can also bring your beverage, like water, with you, which can be stowed on the kayak for refreshment. Consider the amount of time you will be on the water with your kayak rental, along with the time of day, and it is a good idea to check the weather on the day of your rental to make last-minute adjustments.
